Everyone's Feet are Different

Everyone's Feet are Different

Let’s talk about something that should be simple but somehow isn’t: finding your perfect shoe size online.

Between different international sizing systems, varying fits, and the fact that no two feet are ever quite the same, it can feel like a bit of a guessing game. And honestly? Like the clothing industry, the footwear industry doesn’t make it easy, sizing isn’t standardised across companies or manufacturing, which is why one brand’s “UK 5” can feel completely different to another.

At Nicki Hoyne, we use EU sizing across all of our styles, but we include the UK equivalent on every product page to make things as straightforward as possible 💛

Here’s how I recommend finding your best fit with us:

Start with your usual size

Most of our styles are designed to fit true to size, so your regular size is always the best place to begin.

Follow our style-specific advice (this is key!)

This is where it really helps to know the style you’re considering, different shapes and constructions can fit quite differently.

Our general guidance:
Majority of stylestrue to size, size up if you are between sizes
Closed-toe kitten heels→ we suggest sizing down
Open-toe kitten heels→ if between sizes or you consider yourself to have wide feet size up
Platforms→ if between sizes or you consider yourself to have wide feet size up

Classic trainers→ we recommend going up a full size
Tassel flatstrue to size, size down if you are between sizes
Slingback flats→ typically true to size, some size up as don’t want heel close to edge

These pieces of advice can make all the difference and they come directly from customer feedback and real wear in the studio.

Remember: materials will soften

We work with beautiful suedes and leathers that mould gently to your foot with wear. So a snug (not tight!) fit at first is often exactly what you want.

Every foot is unique (and that’s the honest truth)

Even with the best guidance, we can never guarantee a perfect fit and I always think it’s important to say that.

Feet differ in width, shape, and arch, and those little nuances matter. What feels perfect to one person might feel different to another and that’s completely normal.

Try them on with care at home

When your shoes arrive, try them on for size and fit indoors, on carpet, or on a towel if you have hard floors. This keeps the soles unscuffed so you have the option to return if needed.

We’ve made our returns process as easy as possible, because finding your perfect fit should feel like a pleasure, not a pressure.

At the end of the day, finding the right size online is part guidance, part instinct and a little bit of trial and error. But once you find your fit, it’s worth it. And once you find your size and style at Nicki Hoyne and follow our advice, they should fit every time and be comfortable for years of enjoyment!
