A Little Care goes a Long Way

A Little Care goes a Long Way

There’s something so personal about a pair of shoes, isn’t there?

They carry you through big moments, everyday errands, dancing-all-night evenings… and if you care for them properly, they’ll stay with you for years (and still look fabulous doing it).

I always say that our shoes are designed to be loved, worn, and re-worn for years, and not replaced after a season. So here are a few of my favourite, tried and tested tips to keep yours looking their very best.

1. Treat them gently from day one
Our shoes are made from beautiful, natural materials, so a little love goes a long way. I always recommend wearing them in at home first. Let them soften and mould to your feet before a full day out.

2. Protect your materials
Suede especially loves a little extra care, a proper protector spray helps guard against water marks and stains. Always be mindful of colour transfer from denim or darker fabrics. And PLEASE check you are not using a coloured suede protector, use clear protectors only. I’ve had a friend who almost sprayed her Pink Bow Pumps with Black suede protector!!

2. Keep it simple when cleaning
You don’t need anything fancy. A soft, damp cloth is perfect for cleaning leather or pony hair styles, no harsh products needed. In fact, too many chemicals can do more harm than good. For our bestselling suede styles, there are some great suede cleaners out there. Always test it on a small, hidden patch first.

4. Let them breathe (and rotate!)
One of the best things you can do is not wear the same pair every day. Giving your shoes time to rest helps them dry out naturally and keeps their shape for longer. If you have them, shoe horns can also help keep them perfectly shaped.

5. Store them beautifully
Pop them back into their box when you’re not wearing them. Keep them away from heat, humidity, and direct sunlight. Be especially mindful of the brightly coloured suedes, sun can cause serious discolouration or damage over time.

6. Never rush the drying process
If they get wet (it happens!), resist the radiator. Let them dry slowly at room temperature, your shoes will thank you for it. Leather can crack if you dry them out too quickly!

7. Repair, don’t replace
This one is close to my heart. Most shoes can be repaired and often it’s a small fix that gives them a whole new life. It’s better for your wardrobe and the planet.

At the end of the day, caring for your shoes isn’t about perfection, they will age as you wear them. But a little effort here and there means your favourite pairs stay part of your story for much longer.

If they ever need a little extra TLC, we’re always here to help where we can 💛
